Coin Word Problems
Coin problems give you a collection of coins (dimes, quarters, nickels) with conditions about the total count and total value, and ask you to figure out how many of each type there are. They're essentially systems of equations in disguise: one equation for the number of coins, another for their value. Despite being one of the simpler word problem types, they trip people up because of the unit conversion — a dime isn't worth 1, it's worth 0.10, and forgetting to convert is the most common mistake. These are often the first word problems you encounter when learning systems of equations, and they build a foundation for the harder mixture and finance problems that follow the same structure.
