Neven Jurkovic, PhD, is a computer scientist and educator with a lifelong focus on using technology to make math more accessible. He created Algebrator, a step-by-step algebra tutoring software that has been in continuous commercial use since 1995 across every major platform — PC, Mac, web, iOS, and Android. His doctoral research in computer science explored AI applications in math education, a thread that has run through his entire career. He is a Professor of Computer Science at Palo Alto College in the Alamo Colleges District, San Antonio, Texas, where he teaches programming and continues to develop tools that help students learn mathematics through technology rather than in spite of it.
